The myriad stimuli are put outside the body; / Solemnly quiet in the empty hall. / The bright curled ray crowns all colors; / The subtle spirit aids its initial continuation. / The wondrous image is not prepared from of old; / How could a mundane glance be a goodly sight? / Analyzing it brings entry into the subtle; / Pure appreciation leaves the mind without displeasure. / Golden skin obscures true vision; / The eight tones deceive right hearing. / Mysterious emptiness is utterly without reliance; / How could ultimate engagement possess merit? / The manifold phenomena meet in complete quiescence; / The vast sky melts away the accumulated vapor. / How fine is this comprehensive contemplation! / How could a narrow scholar talk of this? / Blending feelings, returning to circuitous illumination, / Beaming like an image in a mirror. / Examining carefully, no mind is left behind; / Seeking in emptiness, it is not an obstructed thought. / Chasing dreams, forgetting beginning and end; / Penetrating the mysterious, as if journeying there. / Relying on this to meet the divine posture, / Free and easy, anticipating the enjoyment of the West. / When mirror-like wisdom is consummate, the mysterious thought stands alone; / Activity and stillness—how could they be demarcated? / How could the Great Image have shape or manner? / Who could give the Great Square edges or corners? / Right appreciation requires no straightening; / The wondrous practice involves no detour. / The mind clarifies into the ocean of all-knowledge, / Radiant is the yellow-gold body.
