敘曰：念佛三昧，踐聖之妙道。凡揭厲于法流者，何莫由斯矣。晉慧遠師，化潯陽集賢輩，乘之為際極之軌。琅琊王喬之洎群賢，皆為念佛三昧詩，遠為序。皇宋丙申沙門（遵式），會四明高尚之賓百餘人，春冬二仲一日一夜萃寶雲講堂，想無量覺、行漢魏經。壬寅既廢適台之東山，忽思俄成故事，惜無述焉。乃擬晉賢作詩，寄題于石，垂於後世也（詩四章八句）。

The preface states: Buddha-mindfulness samādhi is the wondrous path for treading in sageliness. Among all who wade across the stream of the Dharma, who does not proceed by this? Master Huiyuan of the Jin transformed Xunyang and gathered the worthy, mounting it as the ultimate track. Wang Qiaozhi of Langya and the other worthies all composed poems on buddha-mindfulness samādhi, and Huiyuan wrote a preface for them. In the bingshen year of the Huangsong, this śramaṇa (Zunshi) gathered more than one hundred noble guests of Siming; on a day and night in the middle of spring and winter, we assembled at the Baoyun lecture hall to contemplate the Awakened One of Immeasurable Life and practice the sutras of the Han and Wei. In the renyin year, having retired and gone to Dongshan of Tiantai, I suddenly recalled that this had instantly become a past event, and regretted that there was no written account of it. Thus, imitating the worthies of the Jin, I composed a poem, inscribed it upon stone, to be handed down to later generations (a poem in four stanzas of eight lines).
