《傳燈錄》紀龍牙遁禪師頌曰「成佛人稀念佛多，念來歲久却成魔。君今欲得自成佛，無念之心不校多。」
The Chuandeng lu records Chan Master Longya Dun's verse, which says: 'Those who attain Buddhahood are few; those who recite the Buddha's name are many. Reciting over long years, they turn instead into māras. If you wish now to attain Buddhahood on your own, a mind free of thought does not amount to much more.'
