2.139

卓哉西聖釋迦文，口輪垂範億代遵，
開顯一化無餘蘊，復譚樂土拔沈淪。
馬鳴龍樹皆讚述，首傳震旦得遺民，
自是搢紳多響慕，豈特緇侶蒙陶鈞。
河東先生具正見，發揮此道尤諄諄，
景迃曾見立與照，有文炳然名略因。
縱陷異宗亦牽復，楊公陳公即其倫，
每嗟先哲不可作，悠悠誰與繼芳塵？
龍門忽逢孫氏子，肯約同輩並為仁，
短疏一讀起遐想，如見廬阜山中人。
乃知儒俊最易曉，撥撥便轉陶家輪，
更把一乘扶壯志，鵬搏九萬誰能馴！

How eminent is the Western Sage, Śākyamuni! / The wheel of his speech set an exemplar honoured for myriads of generations. / He revealed and unfolded his teaching throughout a lifetime with nothing held back, / And furthermore spoke of the Land of Bliss to pull out those who are drowning. / Aśvaghoṣa and Nāgārjuna both praised and set it forth; / When it first reached Cīnasthāna, it found Liu Yimin. / From then on, many scholar-officials resoundingly admired it; / How could it be that only monks received its moulding and potting? / Master Hedong possessed right view, / And expounded this path with particular earnestness. / Jingyu once met Li and Zhao, / And wrote a splendid text titled *Brief Causes*. / Even if one falls into disparate schools, one may still be led back; / Duke Yang and Duke Chen are of this sort. / I constantly lament that these former worthies cannot be brought back to life; / In these distant times, who will continue their fragrant dust? / At Longmen I suddenly met this son of the Sun clan, / Who was willing to make a compact with his peers to practice benevolence together. / Reading his short statement gives rise to distant thoughts, / As though seeing the men within Mount Lu. / Thus one knows that Confucian talents are the easiest to awaken: / With a simple touch, the potter’s wheel spins at once. / Furthermore, taking the One Vehicle to support high aspirations, / When the roc strikes the water to soar ninety thousand li, who could ever tame it!
