'Disciple [so-and-so] gives thanks for heaven and earth covering and supporting, the sun, moon, and stars shining down, creation generating and bringing forth, the spirits protecting and aiding, parents giving birth and nurturing, ruler and ministers shielding and protecting, masters and teachers instructing, benefactors guiding and supporting, as well as the sources from which clothing and food come, the places of enjoyment, the places of service and command, and the places of walking, standing, and sitting—giving thanks to all who have bestowed kindness and power upon oneself. Reverently on their behalf, I recite 'Namo Śākyamuni Buddha' one hundred and eight times to plant supreme roots of goodness, and recite 'Namo Amitābha Buddha' one hundred and eight times to form supreme wholesome connections. May all living beings who are alive early realize the true fruit of bodhi, and those who have passed away all be born in Sukhāvatī.' Make full prostrations. Having completed the practice of these six sections, then face west and cultivate the Pure Land [practices].
