A woman should reflect to herself thus: 'According to what the Buddha taught, those with heavy lustful minds receive a female body. This is already not wholesome karma; if I do not examine myself and instead add jealousy and greedy lust, karmic conditions will become even deeper, and the fruit of retribution is fearful. If I can turn my mind, repent, and cut off wrongful thoughts; treat bondmaids and concubines with benevolence and kindness; treat superiors and subordinates with gentleness and propriety; and constantly recollect Amitābha Buddha, making this vow: "May my dark karma diminish day by day, and my bright karma grow day by day. May my present body be pure, and inside and out be light and at ease. After this lifetime, may I never again receive a female body." Let thought after thought be uninterrupted; when thoughts naturally become pure and ripe, one will definitely be born in Sukhāvatī.' If she turns around to transform her whole household, her bondmaids and concubines, and her clan relatives, her retribution of blessings will be inexhaustible, and she will certainly be born in the highest grade. This can be seen from observing the biography of the Lady of the King of Jing, in Fascicle Five.
