We only pray that the Three Jewels of the ten directions and the sentient beings of the dharmadhātu will give rise to great compassion—vast and great compassion that disregards our evils, covering the ground like grass, bestowing joy, accepting our repentance, and minding our purity. We only pray that you will not abandon your compassion to gather and transform us. May the sins we have already committed be eliminated, and may sins not yet arisen never arise; may the goodness we have already done increase, and may unperformed goodness be skillfully brought to arise. We vow that from this day until we attain the tolerance of non-arising, we will vow together with sentient beings to abandon the heterodox and return to the orthodox, bring forth the bodhicitta, turn toward one another with compassionate minds, look upon one another with Buddha-eyes, and as bodhi kinsmen and true kalyāṇamitras be born together in the Pure Land. Until attaining Buddhahood, may such sins be eternally severed in continuity, and never again dare to be concealed. Having made this vow, with utmost sincerity we take refuge in Amitābha Buddha.
