"Śāriputra, just as I now praise the inconceivable merits of the Buddhas, those Buddhas also praise my inconceivable merits, saying: 'Śākyamuni Buddha has been able to accomplish an extremely difficult and rare task. In the Sahā land, during the evil age of the five defilements—the defilement of the kalpa, the defilement of views, the defilement of afflictions, the defilement of sentient beings, and the defilement of lifespan—he has attained anuttarā samyaksaṃbodhi, and for the sake of all sentient beings preaches this Dharma that is difficult for all the world to believe.' Śāriputra, you should know that my performing this difficult task in the evil age of the five defilements, attaining anuttarā samyaksaṃbodhi, and preaching this Dharma difficult to believe for all the world is indeed extremely difficult." When the Buddha finished preaching this sūtra, Śāriputra and the monks, along with all the gods, humans, and asuras of the world, hearing what the Buddha had preached, rejoiced, faithfully accepted it, made prostrations, and departed.
