Those of the lower rank, lower practice, and lower faculties, / Commit the ten evils and five unpardonable offenses in greed and anger, / The four grave sins, stealing from the Saṅgha, and slandering the true Dharma, / Never having felt shame or repented of their former faults. / At their end, marks of suffering assemble like clouds; / Fierce fires of hell appear before the sinners. / Suddenly they meet a kalyāṇamitra of rebirth, / Who urgently exhorts them exclusively to recite that Buddha's name. / Manifested Buddhas and Bodhisattvas arrive hearing their voice; / In a single thought of sincere devotion, they enter a jewel lotus. / Their three karmic obstacles being heavy, kalpas pass before it opens, / At which time they only begin to generate the causes of bodhi.
