誰知九色鹿？有人知鹿處，
分國賜千金。鬧兒聞此語，
叉手向王前，臣知九色鹿，
恒在流水邊，啟王多將兵，
此鹿甚輕便。

"Who knows the nine-colored deer? / If someone knows where the deer is, / I will divide the kingdom and bestow a thousand pieces of gold." / The wretched man heard these words, / and clasping his hands before the king, [said:] / "Your servant knows the nine-colored deer; / it is always beside the flowing water. / I urge the king to take many soldiers; / this deer is extremely agile and swift."
