雲巖舉問師：「藥山問僧：『見說汝解算虛實。』云：『不敢。』山曰：『汝試算老僧看。』僧無對。汝作麼生？」師曰：「請和尚生日。」

Yunyan brought up an inquiry to the Master: 'Yaoshan asked a monk: "I hear that you can divine the true and the false." The monk said: "I would not dare." Yaoshan said: "Try divining this old monk to see." The monk had no reply. What would you say?' The Master said: 'Please give me the Upādhyāya's date of birth.'
