曹山來謁，師問曰：「闍黎名什麼？」對曰：「本寂。」師曰：「向上更道。」曹云：「不道。」師曰：「為什麼不道？」曹云：「不名本寂。」師深器之。

Caoshan came to visit. The Master asked, "What is your name, Ācārya?" He replied, "Benji." The Master said, "Speak further beyond." Caoshan said, "I will not speak." The Master said, "Why do you not speak?" Caoshan said, "It is not named Benji." The Master regarded him highly.
