華嚴搬柴次，師把住柴問：「狹路相逢時作麼生？」云：「反仄何幸。」師曰：「汝記吾言，汝向南住有一千人，若向北住即三二百而已。」

While Huayan was carrying firewood, the Master grabbed the firewood and asked, "When meeting on a narrow path, what then?" He said, "What good fortune to turn aside!" The Master said, "Remember my words: if you dwell in the south, you will have a thousand people; if you dwell in the north, it will be merely two or three hundred."
