九峯見，師曰：「掌有神珠，白晝示人，人且按劍，況玄夜乎！子可貴也。」峯云：「但不識珠者耳，識之亦無晝夜。」師稱之為俊士。

Jiufeng had an interview. The Master said, "Holding a divine jewel in the palm and showing it to people in broad daylight, people still press their swords, to say nothing of the dark night! You are worthy of respect." Jiufeng said, "It is merely that they do not recognise the jewel; if they recognised it, there would be neither day nor night." The Master praised him as an eminent man.
