欽山邃參，師問：「甚麼處來？」對云：「大慈來。」師曰：「還見大慈麼？」欽云：「見。」師曰：「色前見？色後見？」欽云：「非色前後見。」師默置。欽乃云：「離師太早，不盡師意。」法眼云：「不盡師意，不易承嗣得他。」

Qinshan Sui came to study. The Master asked, "Where do you come from?" He replied, "I come from Daci." The Master said, "Did you see Daci or not?" Qin said, "I saw him." The Master said, "Did you see him before form or after form?" Qin said, "I did not see him before or after form." The Master remained silent. Qin then said, "I left the master too early and did not fully understand the master's intent." Fayan said, "If one does not fully understand the master's intent, it is not easy to inherit his lineage."
