師問疎山：「空劫無人家，是甚麼人住處？」疎云：「不識。」師曰：「人還有意旨也無。」云：「和尚何不問他。」師曰：「現問次。」云：「是何意旨？」師不對。

The Master asked Shushan, "In the empty kalpa where there are no houses, whose dwelling place is it?" Shu said, "I do not know." The Master said, "Does that person still have any intention or not?" He said, "Why does the upādhyāya not ask him?" The Master said, "I am asking right now." He said, "What is the intention?" The Master did not reply.
