師將圓寂，謂眾曰：「吾有間名在世，誰人為吾除得？」眾皆無對。時沙彌出云：「請和尚法號？」師曰：「吾間名已謝。」石霜云：「無人得他肯。」雲居云：「若有間名，非吾先師。」曹山云：「從古至今無人辯得。」疎山云：「龍有出水之機，無人辨得。」

When the Master was about to pass away, he said to the assembly, "I have an idle name in the world. Who can remove it for me?" The assembly had no reply. At that time, a novice stepped forward and said, "May we ask the upādhyāya's Dharma name?" The Master said, "My idle name has already withered away." Shishuang said, "No one obtains his approval." Yunju said, "If there is an idle name, he is not my late master." Caoshan said, "From antiquity to the present, no one has been able to distinguish it." Shushan said, "The dragon has the capacity to emerge from the water, but no one can discern it."
