師問僧：「甚處來？」僧云：「遊山來。」師曰：「還到頂麼？」云：「到。」師曰：「頂上有人麼？」云：「無人。」師曰：「恁麼則不到頂也？」云：「若不到頂，爭知無人？」師曰：「我從來疑著這漢。」

The Master asked a monk: "Where have you come from?" The monk said: "I have come from wandering the mountains." The Master said: "Did you reach the summit?" [The monk] said: "I reached it." The Master said: "Was there anyone on the summit?" [The monk] said: "No one." The Master said: "If so, then you did not reach the summit?" [The monk] said: "If I did not reach the summit, how would I know there was no one?" The Master said: "I always suspected this fellow."
