僧問：「承古有言『相逢不擎出，舉意便知有』時如何？」師乃合掌頂戴。

A monk asked, "It is handed down that the ancients had a saying: 'When meeting, it is not held up and brought forth; as soon as a thought arises, one knows it is there'—how is it at that time?" The Master thereupon joined his palms and raised them to his head in reverence.
