A monk was unwell in the Nirvāṇa Hall and wished to see the Master; the Master thereupon went. The monk said, "Why does the upādhyāya not save a son of a good family?" The Master said, "Whose family's son are you?" He replied, "I am a son of a family of great icchantikas." The Master remained silent for a long while. The monk said, "How is it when the four mountains press in upon one?" The Master said, "A few days ago, this old monk also passed beneath someone's eaves." The monk said, "Does it interpenetrate or not interpenetrate?" The Master said, "It does not interpenetrate." The monk said, "Where do you instruct me to go?" The Master said, "Go into the millet field." The monk gave a sigh, said, "Take care," and passed away seated. The Master struck his head three times with his staff and said, "You only know how to go thus, you do not know how to come thus."
