雲巖問一尼云：「汝爺在否？」尼云：「在。」雲巖云：「年多少？」尼云：「年八十。」雲巖云：「汝有箇爺，不年八十，汝還知否？」尼云：「莫是恁麼來者麼？」雲巖云：「猶是兒孫。」師云：「直是不與麼來者，亦是兒孫。」

Yunyan asked a nun, saying, "Is your father still living?" The nun said, "He is living." Yunyan said, "How old is he?" The nun said, "He is eighty years old." Yunyan said, "You have a father who is not eighty years old; do you still know him or not?" The nun said, "Could it be the one who comes like this?" Yunyan said, "That is still a child or grandchild." The Master said, "Even the one who does not come like this is also a child or grandchild."
