欽山參師，師問：「甚處來？」欽山云：「大慈來。」師云：「還見大慈麼？」欽山云：「見。」師云：「色前見，色後見？」欽山云：「非前後見。」師默置。欽山乃云：「某甲離師太早，不盡師意。」

Qinshan came for an interview with the Master. The Master asked, "Where do you come from?" Qinshan said, "I come from Daci." The Master said, "Did you see Daci?" Qinshan said, "I saw him." The Master said, "Did you see him before forms, or did you see him after forms?" Qinshan said, "I saw him neither before nor after." The Master kept silent. Qinshan then said, "I left my teacher too early, and have not exhausted my teacher's meaning."
