華嚴搬柴次，師把住云：「狹路相逢時如何？」華嚴云：「反側反側。」師云：「汝記吾言，向南住，有一千人；向北住，止三百而已。」

While Huayan was carrying firewood, the Master grabbed hold of him and said, "How is it when meeting on a narrow road?" Huayan said, "Turn aside, turn aside!" The Master said, "Remember my words: if you dwell in the south, there will be one thousand people; if you dwell in the north, there will only be three hundred."
