雲巖作草鞋次，師近前云：「乞師眼睛得麼？」雲巖云：「汝底與阿誰去也？」師云：「良价無。」雲巖云：「設有，汝向甚麼處著？」師無語。雲巖云：「乞眼睛底，是眼否？」師云：「非眼。」雲巖即喝出。

While Yunyan was making straw sandals, the Master stepped forward and said, "May I beg for the Master's eyes?" Yunyan said, "To whom did yours go?" The Master said, "Liangjie has none." Yunyan said, "Supposing you had them, where would you place them?" The Master was silent. Yunyan said, "Is that which begs for eyes an eye or not?" The Master said, "It is not an eye." Yunyan then shouted him out.
