師問僧：「甚處去來？」僧云：「製鞋來。」師云：「自解？依他？」僧云：「依他。」師云：「他還指教闍黎也無？」僧云：「允即不違。」

The Master asked a monk, "Where have you been?" The monk said, "I have been making shoes." The Master said, "By your own understanding, or relying on another?" The monk said, "Relying on another." The Master said, "Did that other person also give instructions to the ācārya or not?" The monk said, "If he gave consent, I did not go against it."
