When Qinglin Shiqian came for an interview with the Master, the Master asked, "Where have you recently departed from?" Qinglin said, "Wuling." The Master said, "How does the Dharma way in Wuling compare to here?" Qinglin said, "In the land of the Hu barbarians, winter shoots forth bamboo sprouts." The Master said, "Cook fragrant rice in a separate cauldron to make an offering to this person." Qinglin flicked his sleeves and left. The Master said, "In the future, this fellow will run the people of the world to death." (Gushan Yong said, "With such a reply, even a drop of water is hard to digest; why cook fragrant rice in a separate cauldron?")
