1.122

問：「如何是往來異類？」余曰：「未知有自己。」又曰：「一切言語聲色是非，總是往來異類。如何是（菩薩）同中異類？」余曰：「不擇其身。」「如何是披毛戴角（沙門）異類？」余曰：「不立觸淨。」又非時答（當也）：「觸即觸，遇淨即淨。」「如何是宗門中異類？」余曰：「要頭則研將去。」

A monk asked, "What is the different species of coming and going?" I said, "Not yet knowing the existence of oneself." He also said, "All words, sounds, forms, right and wrong are all the different species of coming and going." "What is the (bodhisattva's) different species within sameness?" I said, "Not choosing one's body." "What is the (śramaṇa's) different species wearing fur and sporting horns?" I said, "Not establishing touch and purity." Another time he answered (it fits): "Touch is just touch; encountering purity is just purity." "What is the different species within the ancestral school?" I said, "If you want my head, grind it away."
