師一日入僧堂向火，有僧云：「今日好寒。」師曰：「須知有不寒者。」僧云：「誰是不寒者？」師筴火示之。僧云：「莫道無人好。」師拋下火。僧云：「某甲到這裏却不會。」師曰：「日照寒潭明更明。」

One day the Master entered the Monks' Hall to warm himself by the fire. A monk said, "Today is very cold." The Master said, "You must know that there is one who is not cold." The monk said, "Who is the one that is not cold?" The Master took up the fire with tongs and showed it to him. The monk said, "Do not say there is no person." The Master threw down the fire. The monk said, "Having come to this point, I however do not understand." The Master said, "The sun shines on the cold pool, clear and ever clearer."
