僧問：「日未出時如何？」師曰：「曹山也曾恁麼來。」僧云：「日出後如何？」師曰：「猶較曹山半月程。」

A monk asked, "What is it like before the sun has risen?" The Master said, "Caoshan also once came like this." The monk said, "What about after the sun has risen?" The Master said, "It is still half a month's journey short of Caoshan."
