The Master instructed the assembly, saying, 'In all quarters they completely hold to fixed standards; why not say a turning phrase for them to cause them to be free of doubts?' Yunmen came out from the assembly and asked, 'Why does one not know the existence of It in the intimate place?' The Master said, 'Simply because it is intimate, therefore one does not know the existence of It.' Yunmen said, 'How should this person approach [It]?' The Master said, 'Do not approach [It] towards the intimate place.' Yunmen said, 'What about when one does not approach towards the intimate place?' The Master said, 'Only then do you know how to approach [It].' Yunmen said, 'Yes, yes.' He also asked, 'When a person who does not alter comes, does the Master still receive him or not?' The Master said, 'Caoshan has no such spare time.'
