雲門問：「如何是沙門行？」師曰：「喫常住苗稼者是。」雲門云：「便恁麼去時如何？」師曰：「爾還畜得麼？」雲門云：「畜得。」師曰：「爾作麼生畜？」雲門云：「著衣喫飯，有甚麼難？」師曰：「何不道披毛戴角。」雲門便禮拜。

Yunmen asked, 'What is the practice of a śramaṇa?' The Master said, 'Eating the permanent property's crops is it.' Yunmen said, 'What about when one goes on just like that?' The Master said, 'Can you still rear [them]?' Yunmen said, 'I can rear [them].' The Master said, 'How do you rear [them]?' Yunmen said, 'Wearing clothes and eating food—what difficulty is there?' The Master said, 'Why don't you say: wearing fur and bearing horns?' Yunmen then made prostrations.
