Jingqing asked, "When the principle of pure emptiness ultimately has no body, how is it?" The Master said, "The principle is indeed like this; what about phenomena?" Jingqing said, "As is the principle, so are phenomena." The Master said, "You may deceive Caoshan alone, but what can you do about the eyes of the sages?" Jingqing said, "If not for the eyes of the sages, how could one discern that which is not so?" The Master said, "An official [needle] does not admit a needle; privately, carts and horses pass through." (Dagui Zhe said, "Although Caoshan is well able to cut and file, carve and polish, what can be done when the jade of Jingqing originally has no flaw? If you want to understand: unless it passes through deft hands, it will ultimately become a useless vessel.")
