舉：「僧辭石霜，霜問：『船去陸去？』僧云：『遇船即船，遇陸即陸。』霜云：『我道半途稍難。』僧無語。」師代云：「三十年後此話大行。」又云：「臨行一句，永劫不忘。」

[The Master] cited: "A monk took leave of Shishuang. Shuang asked: 'Are you going by boat or going by land?' The monk said: 'Encountering a boat, I go by boat; encountering land, I go by land.' Shuang said: 'I say that midway on the road is somewhat difficult.' The monk had no words." The Master answered on his behalf, "Thirty years from now, this talk will be widely practiced." He also said, "A single phrase upon departure, never forgotten for eternal kalpas."
