2.15

舉：「三平頌云：『即此見聞非見聞。』」師云：「喚什麼作見聞？無餘聲色可呈君。」師云：「有什麼口頭聲色，箇中若了全無事。」師云：「有什麼事，體用無妨分不分。」師云：「語是體，體是語。」復拈起拄杖云：「拄杖是體，燈籠是用，是分不分？不見道：一切智智清淨。」

He cited: "Sanping's verse says: 'Right this seeing and hearing is not seeing and hearing.'" The Master said, "What do you call seeing and hearing? 'No sound or form remains to present to you.'" The Master said, "What verbal sounds and forms are there? 'Within this, if one realizes it, there is nothing at all.'" The Master said, "What thing is there? 'Substance and function do not obstruct whether divided or not divided.'" The Master said, "Words are substance; substance is words." He then held up his staff and said, "The staff is the substance; the lantern is the function. Are they divided or not divided? Have you not heard it said: 'The sarvajñajñāna is pure'?"
