或云：「第一句作麼生道？若道不得，作麼生得心息？」代云：「和尚莫要草鞋拄杖麼？」

Or he said, "How do you speak the first phrase? If you cannot speak it, how will your mind come to rest?" Answering on their behalf, he said, "Upādhyāya, don't you need straw sandals and a staff?"
