一日云：「日裏來往上上下下，一問一答任汝當荷，夾差一問來，作麼生當荷？」代云：「謂言侵早起，更有夜行人。」又云：「一起一倒。」又云：「生在冀州。」

One day he said, "Going back and forth in the daytime, going up and down, you may freely bear a question and an answer. But if a mismatched question comes, how will you bear it?" Answering on their behalf, he said, "I thought I rose at early dawn, yet there are travellers by night." He also said, "One rises, one falls." He also said, "Born in Jizhou."
