2.39

舉：「夾山坐次，洞山到來，云：『作麼生？』夾山云：『秖與麼？』」師代洞山云：「不放過又作麼生？」代夾山便喝。師又拈夾山云：「秖與麼，元來秖在蝦蟇窟裏。」又云：「秖與麼，也難得。」

He cited: "While Jiashan was sitting, Dongshan arrived and said, 'How is it?' Jiashan said, 'Just so.'" The Master spoke on Dongshan's behalf: "What about not letting it pass?" On Jiashan's behalf he then shouted. The Master also critiqued Jiashan: "'Just so'—originally he was merely inside a toad's cave." He also said, "'Just so' is also hard to come by."
