師或云：「不問汝叢林言教，這箇是天，這箇是地。」以手指身云：「這箇是我。」又指露柱云：「這箇是露柱，那箇是佛法。」代云：「也大難。」

The Master would sometimes say, "I will not ask you about the words and teachings of the monasteries. This is heaven, this is earth." Pointing with his finger to his own body, he said, "This is me." Then pointing to the exposed pillar, he said, "This is the exposed pillar. Which one is the Buddha-Dharma?" Answering on their behalf, he said, "Extremely difficult indeed."
