一日云：「有所說，野干鳴；無所說，師子吼。我與麼是野干鳴，作麼生是師子吼？」代云：「九九八十一。」

One day he said, "When there is something taught, it is the howl of a jackal; when there is nothing taught, it is the lion's roar. With me being like this, it is the howl of a jackal—what is the lion's roar?" Answering on their behalf, he said, "Nine times nine is eighty-one."
