又問僧：「大橋有多少米？」僧云：「七十碩。」師拈起拄杖云：「七十碩米一時在拄杖頭上，擔將來即得；若擔不得，餓殺爾。」代云：「不可為小小。」

He also asked a monk, "How much rice is at the Great Bridge?" The monk said, "Seventy shi." The Master held up his staff and said, "All seventy shi of rice are at once on the tip of the staff: if you carry them, it is fine; if you cannot carry them, you will starve to death." Answering on their behalf, he said, "One must not take it as a minor matter."
