2.81

舉：「僧問投子：『密巖意旨如何？』子云：『須是與麼人始得？』趙州云：『何不與他本分草料？』」師問僧：「作麼生是本分草料？」僧擬議，師便打。

He brought up: "A monk asked Touzi: 'What was the intention of Miyan?' Touzi said: 'It takes such a person to begin to do so.' Zhaozhou said: 'Why not give him his proper forage?'" The Master asked a monk, "What is the proper forage?" The monk hesitated, and the Master struck him at once.
