因齋次，問僧：「儞道人喫飯？飯喫人？」無對。師云：「儞問我，與儞道。」僧乃問，師云：「謝儞答話。」代前語云：「不因喫飯，難得此言。」

During a meal, he asked a monk, "Do you say man eats rice, or rice eats man?" There was no answer. The Master said, "You ask me, and I will tell you." The monk then asked. The Master said, "Thank you for answering." Speaking on behalf of the earlier words, he said, "Were it not for eating rice, these words would be hard to come by."
