問僧：「古人道：『直須一句下悟去。』作麼生？」僧云：「直須一句下悟去。」師云：「儞為什麼鼻孔裏秖對我？」僧云：「某甲什麼處是鼻孔裏秖對？」師云：「夢見。」代云：「某甲慎初，和尚護末。」又云：「南柯。」又云：「少喫。」又云：「戒文一切總不犯。」

He asked a monk, "An ancient said, 'You must directly awaken under a single phrase.' What about it?" The monk said, "One must directly awaken under a single phrase." The Master said, "Why do you answer me through your nostrils?" The monk said, "Where is it that I answer through my nostrils?" The Master said, "In a dream." Answering on their behalf, he said, "I am cautious about the beginning, while the Upādhyāya protects the end." He also said, "Nanke." He also said, "Eat less." He also said, "None of the precepts are transgressed at all."
