Seventeen years after the Master's return to silence, he manifested in a dream to Ruan Shaozhuang, Judicial Investigator of the Xiongwu Army. Shaozhuang dreamed that the Master waved a whisk to summon him, saying, 'Convey a message for me to Commissioner of the Xiuhua Palace, Specially Advanced Li Tuo, to memorialize the throne requesting the opening of the stūpa. Having been obscured in the stūpa for a long time, I should be permitted to come out for a short while.' At that time, Tuo was serving as Commissioner of the Shaoyang Directorate, supervising the construction and repair of various monasteries. Having received Shaozhuang's words, he reported the dream to the Emperor. Soon, an imperial decree was issued ordering Liang Yan'e, Regional Inspector of Shaozhou, together with Tuo, to request the opening of the stūpa at Mount Yunmen. Indeed, they found his countenance just as of old, with his beard and hair still growing; they accordingly submitted a memorial reporting this. Another imperial decree was issued commanding Tuo to welcome the true body to the palace, where it was kept in the inner court for offerings for more than a month, after which it was escorted back to the stūpa. The temple was also renamed Dajue, and he was posthumously conferred the title Chan Master Daci Yun Kuangzhen Hongming.
