3.77

問僧：「甚處來？」僧云：「大普請般柴來。」師云：「小普請為什麼不到？」無對。代云：「依前又是大普請。」又云：「辛苦受盡。」

[The Master] asked a monk, "Where have you come from?"
The monk said, "I have come from hauling firewood in the great general work."
The Master said, "Why didn't you arrive for the minor general work?"
There was no reply.
Answering on their behalf, he said, "As before, it is again the great general work."
He also said, "I have suffered all kinds of hardship."
