師見新到，云：「雪峯和尚道：『開却路，達磨來也。』我問爾作麼生？」僧云：「築著和尚鼻孔。」師云：「地神惡發，把須彌山一摑，㪍跳上梵天，拶破帝釋鼻孔，爾為什麼向日本國裏藏身？」僧云：「和尚莫瞞人好。」師云：「築著老僧鼻孔，又作麼生？」無對。師云：「將知爾秖是學語之流。」代無語處云：「和尚秖恐某甲不實。」又云：「邏邏李。」

The Master saw a newcomer and said, "Upādhyāya Xuefeng said: 'The road has been opened; Bodhidharma is coming.' I ask you, how is it?" The monk said, "It bumps right into the upādhyāya's nostrils." The Master said, "The earth spirit had a fit of temper, grabbed Mount Sumeru with one strike, leapt up to the Brahmā heaven, and bruised Śakra's nostrils. Why did you hide your body away in Japan?" The monk said, "It would be best if the upādhyāya did not deceive people." The Master said, "It bumps into this old monk's nostrils—how about that?" There was no reply. The Master said, "I should have known you were just one who mimics words." Answering on his behalf for where there was no reply, he said, "The upādhyāya only fears that I am not genuine." He also said, "Luoluo li."
