師因鹽官會下，有數人到溈山不肯伏。一日因普請西莊搬禾次，師至嶺頭放下，後十數人亦到放下。師遂舉起禾檐，向諸人前行一匝，云：「有麼？有麼？」其一行僧並無對。師云：「賺殺人。」便檐禾去。

Because several people from Yanguan's assembly came to Guishan and refused to submit, one day, during communal labor carrying harvested grain at the West Farm, the Master reached the mountain ridge and put down his load; more than ten people behind him also arrived and put down theirs. The Master then lifted up his grain shoulder-pole and load, walked a circle in front of them all, and said: "Is there anything? Is there anything?" That whole line of monks had no reply. The Master said: "You are utterly deceiving people to death!" Then he shouldered the grain and left.
