溈山同師牧牛次，溈山云：「此中還有菩薩也無？」師云：「有。」溈山云：「汝見那箇是，試指出看。」師云：「和尚疑那個不是，試指出看。」溈山便休。

While Guishan was herding cattle together with the Master, Guishan said: "Is there any bodhisattva in here or not?" The Master said: "There is." Guishan said: "Which one do you see as such? Try pointing it out and let me see." The Master said: "Which one does the Upādhyāya doubt is not? Try pointing it out and let me see." Guishan then dropped the matter.
