霍山到參，師閉目坐。霍山乃翹起右足，云：「如是如是，西天二十八祖亦如是、中華六祖亦如是、和尚亦如是、景通亦如是。」師起來，打四藤條，霍山因此自稱集雲峯下四藤條天下大禪師。

Huoshan came to pay his respects. The Master sat with closed eyes. Huoshan thereupon raised his right foot and said, "Just so, just so! The twenty-eight Indian patriarchs were also just so; the six Chinese patriarchs were also just so; the upādhyāya is also just so; Jingtong is also just so." The Master got up and struck him four blows with a cane. Because of this, Huoshan gave himself the title: "The Great Chan Master of the Empire with Four Rattan Blows under Jiyun Peak."
