師謂第一座云：「不思善、不思惡，正恁麼時作麼生？」座云：「正恁麼時是某甲放身命處。」師云：「何不問老僧？」座云：「正恁麼時不見有和尚。」師云：「扶我教不起。」

The Master said to the head monk, "Not thinking of good and not thinking of evil, just at such a time, how is it?"
The head monk said, "Just at such a time is where I abandon body and life."
The Master said, "Why don't you ask this old monk?"
The head monk said, "Just at such a time, I do not see that there is an Upādhyāya."
The Master said, "You cannot support my teaching."
